Practical Strategies for Cultivating Students’ Political Identity Literacy in Junior High School Moral and Rule of Law Teaching

Abstract：Political identity literacy is a core part of the essential literacy in the Moral and Rule of Law curriculum at the junior high school level. It is expected that the values and sense of social responsibility among the students will be promoted. With the continuous progress of the new curriculum reform, teaching of Moral and Rule of Law has gradually shifted from knowledge transmission to cultivation of core literacy. However, some classrooms still have problems such as a single teaching method, a lack of connection with real life, and low student participation; thus, the political identity education is not effective. This paper will focus on the cultivation of students' political identity literacy in junior high school Moral and Rule of Law teaching. It studies the meaning and values of political identity literacy, problems in schools, current teaching methods, etc., and proposes improvements along with teaching examples. It is concluded that to enhance students' political identity and sense of social responsibility in Moral and Rule of Law classes, it is necessary to strengthen life-oriented teaching, improve the system of practical activities, and optimise classroom evaluation methods.
