Abstract: Serving as pivotal components of China’s national ecological security strategy, nature reserves function as core carriers for biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration and public ecological science popularization. They also constitute essential spatial platforms for advancing ecological civilization construction in the new era. With the standardized, systematic and normalized development of ecological civilization initiatives, the functional orientation of nature reserves has gone beyond the traditional single mode of ecological resource management and protection. Currently, these protected areas undertake diversified missions, including ecological value activation, public ecological literacy enhancement, and the dissemination of the developmental philosophy centered on harmonious human-nature coexistence. Nevertheless, the prevailing natural education practices in domestic nature reserves are plagued by fragmented construction systems, insufficient resource exploration and transformation efficiency, limited public coverage, and the absence of cross-stakeholder collaborative mechanisms, which severely restrict their empowering potential for ecological civilization development. Starting from the internal logical correlation between the resource endowments of nature reserves and ecological civilization construction, this paper elaborates the synergistic coupling relationship between natural education and ecological civilization development, and systematically analyzes the practical bottlenecks hindering the implementation of current natural education. From four dimensions including hierarchical curriculum development, digital communication scenario construction, multi-agent collaborative governance and regional ecological cultural integration, this study explores professional, regular and inclusive natural education development paths adapted to contemporary developmental demands. The research outcomes are intended to provide theoretical foundations and practical references for conducting nationwide ecological literacy education, optimizing the ecological civilization popularization system, and facilitating the high-quality development of a beautiful China.
