Abstract: Within the framework of the national strategic initiative to establish the Hainan Free Trade Port, innovation and entrepreneurship education at private undergraduate institutions faces unprecedented opportunities and challenges. This paper delves into the specific demands of the Hainan Free Trade Port initiative on such education, particularly concerning talent requirements and industry alignment. It examines the current state and issues within private undergraduate institutions' innovation and entrepreneurship education—covering curriculum systems, practical teaching, and faculty development— it explores pathways for high-quality development through multiple dimensions, including educational philosophy renewal, curriculum optimisation, practical teaching enhancement, faculty development, and international cooperation expansion. The aim is to provide comprehensive and actionable theoretical support and practical guidance for elevating the quality of innovation and entrepreneurship education in private undergraduate institutions and cultivating high-calibre innovative talent aligned with the Free Trade Port's development.
